Argonaut Insurance was founded in California in 1948 as the Argonaut Insurance Exchange. It focused on underwriting workers compensation for the California construction industry. It was acquired in 1969 by Teledyne Technologies, then expanded into additional product lines and acquired Great Central Insurance.

Cool Runnings The Houston-based team at Argo Surety—a business unit of Argo Group’s Commercial Specialty business segment—recently purchased 225 pairs of sneakers (US$4,500) to donate to school children in Haiti. The donation, made via GiveSneakers.com, supports New Missions, a charitable organization that has provided spiritual and educational support to the region since 1983. To help raise awareness for men’s health issues and have a little fun in the process, nearly a dozen employees in Argo Group’s Denver office grew mustaches during the month of November. Band Aid.

The Scottsdale-ased team at Colony Specialty—a business unit of Argo Group’s Commercial Specialty business segment—rallied recently to support the families of the 19 firefighters that tragically lost their lives in a historic wildfire in Yarnell, Arizona in late June. In all, the two-week campaign generated $4,875. Proceeds

from Argo Group went to the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF)—a non-profit organization that is administering a directed grant through Labor Day to ensure 100 percent of the proceeds goes directly to the families in need. Team Argo Supports Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Team Argo proudly participated in the 17”‘ Annual Susan G. Komen San Antonio “Race for the Cure” on April 5″”. Twenty—two proud Team Argo members participated making this the sixth year in a row the company has fielded a team for the 5K foot race to raise money to fight breast cancer. Argo Group was again a corporate sponsor at the Silver Level.

 

Argo International Raises More Than £46,000 During Annual Fundraising Campaign to Support Sick Children in the U.K. ARGO lNTERNATlONAL—When members of the charity committee at London-based Argo International

gathered last February to discuss the business unit’s charitable focus for the year ahead, they had no idea their fundraising efforts would produce such amazing results. During the past year, the 120-employee team at Argo lntemational raised a whopping £23,177.71 (£46,355.42 with company match) for llell_§h_i@—a national charity that provides practical and emotional support for

seriously ill children and their families in the United Kingdom. As part of the partnership with WellChild, all proceeds raised by Argo International go toward providing financial support to help offset one nurse’s annual salary, which rings in at an annual cost of £55,000. The organization relies on its team of specialized children’s nurses to help transition sick children from receiving care in the hospital to receiving care at home “I think what really resonated with employees about WellChild was that there was no mystery regarding how our contributions would be used to support this cause,” said john Spencer, non-executive chairman, Argo

International. “From the beginning, we knew we were not only supporting the organization’s mission and the many sick children in its care, but we were also helping to keep one of our fellow Londoners employed so she could continue to provide specialized care to those in need. l think that was very motivating for folks,” he said.

 

Team Argo Rides Again.

Thirteen Team Argo bicyclists and several Argo Group volunteers will join 700+ riders from 73 teams when they ride in the “Tour de Cure” on Saturday, May to at Retama Park in San Antonio. Our volunteers will staff a rest stop sponsored by the company. The event, which supports the American Diabetes Foundation, will consist of courses that are 1, 19, 30,60 and 100 miles in length. To date. Team Argo is the fifth highest corporate fund-raising team and Argo Group is again a silver level corporate sponsor.

Our volunteers will staff a rest stop sponsored by the company with a ‘pickle’ theme. The riders like to drink pickle juice straight from the jar for the sodium and potassium.
